Meeting to focus on eradicating alien plant species

AWARE Simcoe wants to raise public awareness about the invasion of destructive alien plant species across Simcoe County.

The citizens group is hosting a meeting Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Elmvale Arena to launch a county-wide effort to control and eradicate the plants.

10 of the problematic plants -Giant Hogweed, Garlic Mustard, Dog-strangling Vine, Common Reed (Phragmites), Japanese Knotweed, Glossy Buckthorn, Common Buckthorn, Periwinkle (Vinca), Bishop's Goutweed and Norway Maple
